Curriculum

We strive to deliver an enriched and well-balanced education by drawing upon the best elements of the CAPS Curriculum, while expanding its depth and breadth to align with the high standards of a competitive Christian school. Our approach ensures that students receive a comprehensive, academically rigorous, and values-driven education that prepares them for success in both higher education and the professional world.

Our curriculum is designed to develop each learner’s full potential, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning. We place a strong emphasis on academic excellence, moral integrity, and personal development, ensuring that when students leave WCCS, they are fully equipped to navigate and excel in an increasingly globalised, fast-paced, and competitive world.

A key objective of our academic program is to prepare students for admission into highly selective universities in South Africa and top institutions worldwide. We instill in our learners the discipline, ambition, and intellectual curiosity necessary to excel in their chosen fields and become leaders who make meaningful contributions to society.

To maintain strong communication and collaboration between parents and educators, we provide comprehensive reports on students’ academic progress at the end of every quarter. These reports offer valuable insights into each learner’s strengths, areas for improvement, and overall development. Additionally, parents are encouraged to attend scheduled consultation evenings, where they have the opportunity to engage with teachers, discuss their child’s progress, and gain deeper insight into their academic journey. These meetings are communicated well in advance to ensure maximum participation.

In all subjects and assessments, the pass rate for primary school is set at 50%, ensuring a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills. For secondary school, the pass rate is 40%, reflecting the increased academic rigor while allowing for a balanced approach to learning, mastery of subject content, and progressive development of higher-order skills. These standards uphold WCCS’s commitment to academic excellence while recognising the different stages of cognitive growth and subject complexity.

Phases of Education

At WCCS, we recognise that every learner is unique and possesses the potential to succeed. Our learner-centered approach is designed to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for lifelong learning. We believe that children learn best when they are actively engaged, encouraged to explore, communicate openly, and feel confident in their abilities without fear of failure.

We strive to create an interactive, stimulating, and supportive learning environment where learners are actively involved in lessons and real-world applications. Our curriculum integrates skills, knowledge, values, and attitudes within specific learning areas to ensure that content is relevant, meaningful, and connected to real-life situations.
